“Ocean of knowledge”. This is the theme of the 33e edition of the Science Festival, held once again this year in Sablé-sur-. The Sabolian science village will be interested in the subject of water in general, its use, its recycling, its preservation and even its qualities.

It will take place in the Madeleine-Marie room, Saturday and Sunday. As in 2023, it will extend to the other side of rue Saint-Denis, into the hall of the cultural center L’Apostrophe.

Entertainment for all audiences

Several companies will host a stand in the “science stall” section. LDC Terravenir will offer a workshop entitled “Dive into the ocean of bacteria”. The Zeiss company, located in the Pont craft zone, will present an event around “measurement for all”. Véolia will talk about drinking water…

The association for the protection of Sarthe mills and rivers will focus on “mills full of energy”. The Institute of Molecules and Materials will organize experiments for budding chemists. The organismal biology laboratory at the University of Maine will present an experiment called “sinks or floats, does plastoc? “.

At the same time, several activities will punctuate the weekend for different audiences, some of which require registration such as the planetarium, the science quiz, the kids and coding challenge and the Baschet instrumentarium, a workshop for discovering original sound structures. “QR codes to reserve your place are available on the event program posted online on the Maine Sciences website. It will also be possible to register on site,” indicates the communications department of Maine Sciences.

In this event, science is intended above all to be fun, as with a “photobooth” installed to understand how the water magnifying glass works, but also educational, with demonstrations of the Fab Lab tools, present at the heart of the L’Apostrophe media library.

The Science Festival in Sablé-sur-Sarthe will also be a conference hosted by the author and director Rémy Marion, on the theme “The polar bear, wanderer of ice” at the media library, Saturday October 5, 2024 at 3 p.m. 30 p.m.

The event will also continue through several meetings in the following days with an exhibition called “Modulo’son” visible at the conservatory until October 18, 2024 and another called “Reflected Games” installed at the Micro-Folie, rue Carnot, October 9 and 12, 2024. Without forgetting a show, Thursday October 10, 2024 at 8 p.m., still at the Micro-Folie, on the theme of mathematics.

Saturday October 5 and Sunday October 6, 2024, from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., rue Saint-Denis. Free.
