the attorney general of Dijon evokes “the dominant hypothesis” of the family conspiracy

Newly appointed attorney general from the Court of Appeal, Philippe Astruc confirms this Tuesday, October 15, that justice continues to investigate the death of little Grégory Villemin, on October 16, 1984.

40 years after the death of Grégory Villemin, found tied up in the waters of Vologne, justice is still investigating. “We must continue to work as long as we can, because we owe it to this little boy, we owe it to his parents,” declared this Tuesday, October 15 in the morning on RTL Philippe Astruc, new attorney general near the Dijon Court of Appeal, which made the resolution of this criminal case a priority.

The magistrate explained that “there is no longer a cell, that is to say a group of investigators who work full time on it.”

“They respond on a case-by-case basis depending on the requests of the investigating magistrate for this or that act,” he continued.

“Plurality of authors”

In 2017, little Grégory’s affair experienced a twist with the indictment of Marcel and Jacqueline Jacob, Grégory’s great-uncle and great-aunt, and Murielle Bolle. The indictments have since been canceled, notably due to a procedural defect.

The idea of a family conspiracy, based on the jealousy inspired by the child’s parents, was then favored by the courts. The magistrate considers that, given the elements available to him, there are “a plurality of authors”.

“This is the dominant hypothesis, I would say, for quite a long time now, confirms Philippe Astruc once again. It is the one which seems, I would say, to result quite logically from all the elements.”

If the Attorney General does not want to “speculate” on this file, he recalls that Jean-Marie and Christine Villemin have increased requests for investigative acts, based on advances in science.

“We are progressing, I would say, at the same time as science. So it is one of the elements which can allow us to progress”, continues the magistrate while the Dijon Court of Appeal ordered new acts of investigation, DNA and vocal comparisons with the voice of the crow.
