For the second year in a row, throughout the month of October, around forty merchants in the city center will dress their stores and windows in pink to raise awareness among Quimper residents about breast cancer. This operation is organized by the City of Quimper, in partnership with KempeR’Ose, the League against cancer and merchant associations: the windows of Quimper and the businesses of Faubourg Saint-Corentin/rue du Frout.
There are several issues, according to Valérie Durrwell, assistant in charge of attractiveness, commerce and arts and crafts: “Highlight the disease and especially its detection and create a local event around a great dynamic with mobilization of traders, which complements the KempeR’Ose which will be held on Sunday October 6.
Prizes offered by merchants
From October 1 to 31, residents are invited to vote online for their three favorite windows and will be able to win prizes offered by merchants through a draw.
This year, for better public information on breast cancer, leaflets published by the Finistère committee of the League Against Cancer will be available in all stores. This flyer entitled “Prevention-Screening-breast cancer” places particular emphasis on the actions to be taken for early detection of the disease.
