In Quimper, Pauline Sonnic and Nolwenn Ferry opened the new season at the Théâtre de Cornouaille

To celebrate the opening of the new season of the Théâtre de Cornouaille, a very nice gift was given to spectators this Friday, September 27 in the evening, with the performance of a free dance show entitled “Distro” on the square in front of the theater. It was performed by two dancers from , Pauline Sonnic and Nolwenn Ferry, from the Choari company.

The spectators who came in large numbers with family or friends gathered around the stage in close proximity to the artists and enjoyed, under a welcome ray of sunshine, the boundless energy of these two dancers.

These two contemporary dancers have chosen to draw inspiration from the atmosphere of cafés so conducive to social connection. “All our pieces are linked to Breton culture with music and costume. We take Breton dance as a tool that we misuse.” They specify that the background music and choreography of the show are inspired by recordings made by themselves in bistros; atmosphere so well translated by their stage presence.

This hour of dancing alternating different rhythms with poetic moments to revisited music by Vivaldi or very rock’n’roll energies took the audience into the very unique atmosphere of the cafés.

The two artists were able to recreate this atmosphere admirably through their gestures and posture; cafes where you smile, undress with your eyes or have a drink, and where sometimes you stagger.

After very warm applause, many spectators came to congratulate the artists in person.

Pauline Sonnic and Nolwenn Ferry will return to at the Théâtre de Cornouaille for a performance of their new show Fiskal from February 25 to 27, 2025.
