Daniil Medvedev took the lead over Adrian Mannarino in the round of 16 of the ATP tournament in Beijing (7-6(6), 6-2). The Russian will play the Italian Flavio Cobolli in the quarter.

The day after his victory against Gaël Monfils at the ATP 500 in Beijing, Daniil Medvedev pushed another Frenchman out of his way. Despite the tough opposition offered, especially in the first set concluded in the tie-break, Adrian Mannarino did not resist the number 3 seed. Yet very unusually clumsy, the Russian benefited from an incredible number of direct errors from the Parisian (39). The latter also signed too few winning shots (9) to worry a player of the caliber of Daniil Medvedev, winner after 1h44 of play (7-6(6), 6-2).

In the second set, Adrian Mannarino broke to equalize at 2-2 but his opponent then shifted into high gear, stringing together four consecutive games to end the proceedings. Still looking for a tournament in 2024, Daniil Medvedev reaches the quarters in Beijing where he will face the Italian Flavio Cobolli on Monday. He defeated another Russian in the 8th, Pavel Kotov (6-4, 6-2). The rest of the 8th will take place this Sunday with in particular the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz who will be opposed to the Batavian Tallon Griekspoor.
