The prosecutor asks the court to retain the offence of “driving without a license and insurance”

During his hearing, Sidy Diop was confronted by the prosecutor who accused him of presenting “insurance which expired during the investigation”.

The singer explained that the “owner of the car had initially provided incorrect insurance and then filed a new insurance valid until 2025 at the police station.”

The representative of the public prosecutor also threatened Sidy Diop with prosecution by customs, stating that his case had been handled in flagrante delicto out of “pure humanism”. She stressed that, as a public figure, Diop had to set a good example and that “greatness and feeling do not exist here”.

The prosecutor concluded by ordering him to “rectify himself in the future.”

In her indictment, the prosecutor accused Sidy Diop of having “gone back” by initially claiming not to have insurance, before going back on her statement by presenting what she considers to be a false document. She stressed that her statements left room for doubt.

The prosecutor asked that the court uphold the “offence of driving without a license and insurance”, while dismissing the “accusations of producing false documents, for the benefit of the doubt”.

As for the sentence, she left the final decision to the wisdom of the judge.

The decision will be given during the hearing.
