The singer revealed on Monday, August 26, that her mother Patricia and her sister Alison died on the same day last weekend, without specifying the cause of their disappearance.

Mariah Carey announced on Monday, August 26, that her mother Patricia and her sister Alison died on the same day last weekend, in a statement to the American magazine People.

“My heart is broken because I lost my mother this weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister also passed away on the same day,” the 55-year-old singer wrote.

“I am grateful that I was able to spend the last week with my mother before she passed away. I am grateful for your love and support. I would appreciate your privacy during this difficult time,” she added.
