Born on April 30, 1970 in Paris, Eric Comyn completed his military service in the Navy. He then chose to join the Gendarmerie. Trained at the Gendarmerie School in Le Mans, which he joined on January 11, 1994, he began his career on January 9, 1995 at the mobile gendarmerie squadron in Revigny-sur-Ornain (55). He remained there until September 1998, the date of his assignment to the mobile gendarmerie squadron of Lure (70).

In June 2021, he completed his change of weapon subdivision (CSA) and joined the territorial brigade of Le Luc (83). On July 1, 2007, he joined the Mandelieu-la-Napoule motorway platoon as a pedestrian, which became the motorized platoon. He was appointed to the rank of chief warrant officer in 2022 and then warrant officer in 2024.

Warrant Officer Comyn was just months away from retirement and was considering joining the operational reserve.

He was notably the holder of the National Defense Medal, gold level, and the Territorial Protection Medal.

Highly appreciated for his human and professional qualities, he was very involved in the life of the unit and, being a very good handyman, had notably carried out numerous barracks jobs.

The investigation, opened for “murder of a person in a position of public authority”, was entrusted to the Cannes Research Brigade and the Marseille Research Section.
