An almost frustrating bronze. While Elie de Carvalho, already in silver during the time trial on Wednesday, seemed to be in a good position to play for the Paralympic title, a mechanical incident in the last kilometers of the long course (127.8 km, nine loops of 14.2 km) condemned him, before propelling his compatriot Alexandre Lloveras and his guide Yoann Paillot towards an almost unexpected podium in the road race (category B). A cruel finale, but the French team won an 18th medal in three days, while the two Dutch crews took the first two places on the podium.
