Barcelona made it three wins from three at the start of the season when they defeated Rayo Vallecano on Tuesday night – it was their first victory at Vallecas for three years, and it came after their trailed inside the opening 10 minutes.

Hansi Flick would have been delighted with the victory, had it not been for a late injury suffered by Marc Bernal. The 17-year-old was in serious pain following an incident in the final stages of the match, and Flick confirmed to Movistar+ (via Diario AS) that Barcelona are concerned about their latest teenage star.

“Bernal is injured and it doesn’t look good. We’ll see tomorrow. The victory is sad. Nobody is happy in the dressing room.

“We don’t know anything about Bernal, we’ve only been able to see him in the locker room. It hurts to see him like this because he had a great game. I just want to send him my best wishes.”

There was better news for Pedri, who was also forced off with an injury following a strong challenge. Flick stated that the 21-year-old, with whom Barcelona would have been fearing the worst, is okay.

“Pedri only suffered a strong blow, I think he’s fine.”
