Ferrari considers plan B in case weather disrupts Lewis Hamilton's first test

Ferrari could move Lewis Hamilton's first test away from its Fiorano test circuit if weather conditions disrupt its schedule.

The seven-time world champion is due to get behind the wheel of a 2023 Ferrari this Wednesday at Fiorano, located near the Scuderia headquarters in Maranello. However, the holding of this test remains conditional on the evolution of the weather in the province of Modena, where precipitation is expected this week.

According to F1.com and Italian media, Ferrari has planned fallback solutions and could relocate the test to another circuit, such as Imola or Mugello, if conditions remain unfavorable. The team also wants to maintain a certain discretion around the tests in order to avoid a massive influx of Tifosi.

Hamilton's test will form part of the Previous Car Test (TPC), with Ferrari having also booked the Barcelona circuit for additional testing at the end of the month.

For his part, Lewis Hamilton declared: “I am grateful to John Elkann, Benedetto Vigna and Fred Vasseur for the trust they placed in me and for bringing me into this family.”

“I am determined to bring everything I have to offer to the team, the organization as a whole and the fans”, concluded the seven-time F1 World Champion.
