Motorsport.com is able to reveal that Gary Gannon, racing engineer at Haas since 2015, has joined Aston Martin for the 2025 Formula 1 season.

Within the American team, Gannon whispered in the ear of several drivers. The first of these was the Frenchman Romain Grosjean, whose race engineer he was between 2016 and 2018, before joining Kevin Magnussen on the other side of the garage in 2019 and 2020. He continued this task with Mick Schumacher in 2021 and 2022, before being associated with his replacement, Nico Hülkenberg, during the last two campaigns to date.

According to information from Motorsport.comif Gannon began working for Aston Martin this week, his exact role remains to be confirmed, as does the identity of the driver with whom he will work. Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll worked last year respectively with Chris Cronin, who had worked with Sebastian Vettel and Sergio Pérez previously at Silverstone, and Ben Michell, the latter having been alongside the Canadian since 2021.

Contacted by us, Aston Martin confirmed through a spokesperson that Gannon had joined its team of engineers, while indicating that it did not yet have an announcement to make concerning the driver he will support.

Gannon's arrival, a year before Aston Martin switched to Honda engines, reminds us that the technician worked for ten years as an engineer for the Japanese brand in the CART, IRL and ALMS championships. . Before joining Haas as the team prepared for its arrival in the world championship, he worked in for Virgin/Marussia between 2011 and 2014, alongside Charles Pic and Max Chilton.

Aston Martin has already made headlines at the start of the year with the announcement last week of the replacement, at the head of the team, of Mike Krack – who has held this role since 2022 and who will now occupy the new position of director of track activities – by Andy Cowell, former head of engines at Mercedes and arrived during 2024 as CEO of the group.
