Formula 1 | New Aston Martin boss advocates ‘robotic’ approach

Andy Cowell is the new director of Aston Martin , and he already has an idea of how he and his technical department will approach the 2025 season. The former Mercedes engine director believes his team will need to limit emotions when it will address the development.

According to him, this will be the best way to succeed in finding solutions without feeling bad because of the results which could be insufficient next year.

“I think 2026 is an opportunity for everyone, but we are working hard to make the car faster for next year as well, and with our new facilities for 2026, 2027, 2028 we are growing with our facilities” Cowell said.

“I don’t like the expression ‘roll the dice’, I’m more of the school of ‘you work hard and you make your own luck’. This is what someone said about golf: the more I do, the luckier I get, so it’s every project I want us to improve, it’s not just aiming for one point.”

“It’s a change for us, but I want to be incredibly creative in everything we work on, and then really robotic in how we do experiments, and believe in the outcome. We’ll try to lose our emotional attachment when we watch the results, we will learn and we will come back as quickly as possible.”
