Aston Martin announces major restructuring to maximize competitiveness

A new era dawns for the British team Aston Martin which has just announced a strategic reorganization of its management team. At the heart of this transformation, Andy Cowell takes the reins as team principal, while retaining his role as group CEO of Aston Martin Performance Technologies.

An ambitious restructuring to aim for excellence

This reorganization is part of a particularly ambitious long-term vision. The Aerodynamics, Engineering and Performance departments are now split into separate entities, each operating between the track and the technology campus of Silverstone. A pyramid structure where each division reports directly to Andy Cowell.

Mike Krackan emblematic figure of the team in recent years, remains with the team but will concentrate exclusively on on-track operations. A change that illustrates the desire to optimize every aspect of performance.

Strengthened technical expertise

The arrival ofEnrico Cardiledefector from Ferrari, as technical director marks a significant step. The Italian engineer will supervise the architecture, design and construction of future single-seaters. A nomination which demonstrates the high ambitions of the British team.

The restructuring also affects Tom McCulloughformer performance manager, who is given new responsibilities within the Aston Martin group, in a role separate from F1 activities.

A project aimed towards 2026

This reorganization is part of a broader strategy, particularly in view of the regulatory revolution of 2026. The upcoming arrival ofAdrian Newey in March, as a partner of the team, represents a major asset. Its legendary expertise in aerodynamics could prove decisive.

The partnership with Honda from 2026 constitutes another pillar of this strategy. Andy Cowell, with his experience in the development of Mercedes world champion hybrid engines, will work closely with the Japanese manufacturer to develop an ultra-high performance engine.

A 2025 season of transition

The year 2025 promises to be a period of adaptation with cars relatively similar to those at the end of the previous season. The technical teams are already focusing their efforts on the technical revolution of 2026, where Aston Martin aims to join the very closed circle of dominant teams.

This restructuring demonstrates Aston Martin’s determination to establish itself among the best Formula 1 teams. The association of recognized talents like Cowell, Cardile and soon Newey could well mark the start of a glorious new era for the team. British.
