The news is terrible and plunges the motorcycle world into deep mourning. Dutch minibike champion, Sid Veijer died this Sunday at the age of 7 after an accident on a kart track on December 22. The young boy was a real hope in motorcycling but he died yesterday from his injuries following this accident which occurred just before Christmas during training. Seriously affected by internal injuries to the head and face, Sid Veijer underwent several operations but ultimately lost his biggest fight, having been fighting for almost two weeks.
His family pays tribute to him
“By the end of the week, that glimmer of hope turned into a darkest scenario and an unfair fight that Sid couldn't win. Sid fought like a lion. We fought with him until the last minute with everything we had in us, the doctors and nurses did what they could. Sid passed away this afternoon in the presence of his loving family“, wrote his family on Instagram to reveal the terrible news. His cousin Collin Veijer, Moto 3 rider for the Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact team since 2023, decided to pay him a very nice tribute on his social networks after the tragic new. “You fought as hard as you could, but you couldn't win this tough and difficult battle. I am very proud to be your cousin and I will never forget the fun times we spent together, even though I wasn't with you much. I will never forget you as a person. You motivate me even more to fight as hard as you did. I love you Sid“, he wrote on his Instagram page. The world of motorcycling is now plunged into deep mourning.
