Oliver Bearman has vowed to return to the Ferrari team in the near future if his time at Haas F1 proves successful.
The Englishman, a Ferrari Academy junior driver, has impressed F1 during his replacements this season, notably that of Carlos Sainz in Saudi Arabia, when the Spaniard required emergency surgery for appendicitis. And his first two Grands Prix for Haas F1 in place of Kevin Magnussen (suspended for one race, ill during another) confirmed his status as a promising future rookie.
Then Bearman revealed that he had “made a promise to myself: to come back and drive in F1 with the Scuderia.”
“For me, growing up and racing with Ferrari has been the proudest moment of my career. I hope to be able to wear red again very soon.”
He is aware that “The immediate future revolves around Lewis and Charles. But I have a few years to learn with Haas F1.”
Looking back on his first day at the Ferrari factory in Maranello, Bearman added: “I remember it like it was yesterday.”
“The fact that the whole city revolves around Ferrari is an incredible thing to see. That day we saw the Fiorano circuit and the Scuderia headquarters.”
“I remember looking around and dreaming of driving on that track wearing the Prancing Horse emblem and thinking that if I did well, if I tried harder than anyone else, I would make it.”
