Stade Toulouse was summoned by the disciplinary committee of the National Rugby League for a problem with drawing lines on the Stadium pitch during its match against Stade Français.
Are the people of Toulouse wrong across the board? Not in their rugby in any case given their leadership position, but in the eyes of the National Rugby League, we can think so. Joking aside, the LNR singled out Stade Toulouse in its press release dated December 31 for poor marking of lines or rather poor erasure of old lines.
We can read this: “The Federal Representative and the Match Operations Referent (ROMa) designated for this meeting reported the presence of lines or spectrums of lines different from that of the game of Rugby XV: Stade Toulousain is summoned before the Disciplinary and Regulations Commission .” But then what does this correspond to?
TFC and Union Saint-Jean had been there
During the match, won by Toulouse 38-23, spectators and television viewers were able to see lines (not sufficiently) erased which could overlap or approach the lines of the correct layout made for the match of the thirteenth day of Top 14. remains of white lines marked for previous football matches, having taken place within the Toulouse enclosure, whether during matches of Toulouse FC in Ligue 1 or of the Union Saint-Jean in the Coupe de France.
This double marking is, according to article 391 of the NRL regulations, reprehensible: “In the case of matches of the 1st division professional championship and matches of the 2nd division professional championship broadcast live, the presence of lines or spectra of lines different from those of the game of rugby union is prohibited. The referee may ask the host club to redraw the pitch lines before the match kicks off if it deems it necessary.”
Four other clubs also summoned
In addition to this story of lines, other clubs in the Top 14 will have to appear before the Disciplinary and Regulations Commission of the NRL. Pau, Castres, La Rochelle and Perpignan will have to respond to the League “under various alleged breaches” particularly concerning “the wearing of additional equipment, the presence of material obstacles in the goal during matches and the presence of licensees in unauthorized areas during matches”.
