Sergio Perez, who nevertheless had a contract for the year 2025 with Red Bull Racing, will not be renewed next season alongside Max Verstappen. “After four successful seasons, Sergio Pérez and Red Bull Racing have reached an agreement to separate in 2025,” specifies the press release from the Austrian team.
Sergio Pérez joined the Red Bull Racing team during the 2021 season and during his four years won five victories at the wheel of his Honda-powered single-seater. “And Checo helped the team win two Constructors’ World Championship titles, in 2022 and 2023,” the statement continued.
After 14 seasons in Formula 1 in the Sauber, McLaren, Force India, Racing Point and Red Bull teams, Sergio Pérez will have raced 281 Grands Prix and won 6 victories, 3 pole positions and 39 podiums.
The 34-year-old Mexican had been in the hot seat for many months and only finished the 2024 season in 8th place. The name of his replacement has not been revealed. The New Zealander Liam Lawson is the driver expected to take the wheel.
