F1 – The ranking of the highest paid drivers in 2024

Even when the Formula 1 season is over, rankings continue to fall. This time, it does not concern the sportsman but the economic one since it is that of the highest salaries.

Unsurprisingly, it was the economic magazine Forbes which published this ranking a few days after the last Grand Prix contested in Abu Dhabi. In this Top 10, some changes should be noted compared to the previous season. These do not concern the pilots who form it but rather the order which evolved between 2023 and 2024.

The pass of three for Verstappen, the biggest progress for Norris

As in 2022 and 2023, Max Verstappen once again dominated the debates. Compared to Forbes' previous ranking, the Dutchman earned $5 million for an estimated salary of $60 million and $15 million in bonuses. Behind him, Lewis Hamilton still follows him. The seven-time world champion keeps his same salary (55 million euros) but pocketed 2 million in bonuses.

The “big winner” is Lando Norris who went from 6th to 3rd place and received 20 million dollars more (12 million in salary and 23 million in bonuses). The “big loser” is Sergio Pérez. In addition to having experienced a very difficult season on a sporting level, Checo saw its revenues drop from 26 to 19.5 million dollars (12 million in salary and 7.5 million in bonuses), thus going from 4th to 8th place. .

To make these estimates, while not all salaries are made public, Forbes magazine collaborated with Caroline Reid, contributor to Forbes.com and the data company Formula Money. According to the magazine, “ Estimates are based on financial documents, legal filings and press reports, as well as conversations with industry insiders. All remunerations are rounded to the nearest half million. »
