Formula 1 | Racing Bulls completed almost 1500 km in one day with Lawson and Iwasa

Liam Lawson was the record holder for laps covered this Tuesday in Abu Dhabi. The Racing Bulls driver has completed 159 laps of the Abu Dhabi Circuit, and he is happy to have completed three race distances.

“It was a good day, we decided to do as many laps as possible, so we did a lot of them, which was cool. It's probably the most laps I've done in one only once in the car” Lawson said.

“You always learn more on these days, because you effectively cover three race distances. With the limited number of races I've done, it's useful to do a day like this. It's not often that we do all the program we planned to do.”

“So you have to recognize that the team was very well organized. When you have the opportunity to run as many tires as we did, it's always exciting. It's a great way to end the season and to approach the winter break.”

In the other VCARB 01, Ayumu Iwasa was not idle either. The Japanese rookie completed 110 laps of the Emirati circuit and the results of this test are positive: “Today I had a great experience from the start and learned a lot. I also wanted to do my best for the team and for its future in the 2025 season.”

“The team let me know that they were happy with the way things went today, and so I'm very happy with that. Even for the performance race, I was able to put in some laps OK, so overall I'm pretty happy with my performance.”

“As the day went on I felt more and more confident in the car and I feel like I'm getting used to the feeling of an car. Hopefully next time I get it opportunity to drive, my performance will be even better.”

Alan Permane, the team's sporting director, takes stock of these end-of-year runs: “Liam and Ayumu drove for Racing Bulls today in the current car, which is similar in specification to the Abu Dhabi GP. Liam drove on Pirelli 2025 tires.”

“He carried out a number of suspension set-up checks with low and high fuel, to assess the impact of these tires on the car and learn lessons for next season.”

“Ayumu ran on this season's tires and had a very good day, returning to the car after driving it in FP1 in Abu Dhabi. Ayumu was very comfortable and gave excellent feedback. He drove at the end of the day with the soft tire and achieved a competitive time, while being satisfied with the car.”

“Overall it was a very productive day. Both cars ran reliably, we completed a large number of laps and we have a lot of data to study before we resume testing in February. Thanks to everyone team for this season.”
