Formula 1 | chief commissioner also sacked by the FIA?

It was not just Niels Wittich who bore the brunt of the FIA president's decisions.

Indeed, Tim Mayer will no longer be Formula 1 commissioner, according to the Daily Mail. The 58-year-old man was also said to have been sacked by Mohammed Ben Sulayem after he was recently criticized for his lack of impartiality.

Tim is the son of McLaren co-founder Teddy Mayer and spent 15 years as commissioner and rose through the ranks to become one of the FIA's most renowned members.

Mayer was even considered “the chief steward” of Formula 1. But after his last appearance at the Mexican Grand Prix, he was no longer called upon to be the president of the stewards' office.

He too is probably paying for his race management in Austin at the United States Grand Prix, the week before Mexico.

In Las Vegas, drivers reported being “surprised” by the departure of Niels Wittich, but without really criticizing Ben Sulayem's decision on this subject… Will it be the same for Mayer?
