The entry list for the 2025 season of the World Endurance Championship was officially revealed this Friday, November 22, 2024. A total of 36 cars are registered for the year, 18 in the Hypercar category and 18 in GT3.
No big surprises in this list, since the main changes were already known with the arrivals of two new manufacturers: Aston Martin in Hypercar and Mercedes in GT3.
The announcement of the arrival of the German manufacturer heralded a departure from Lamborghini. As expected for several weeks, the Italian manufacturer is withdrawing from the WEC after just one season. The Sant'Agata Bolognese firm will not enter any car in the World Championship in 2025, neither in Hypercar nor in GT3.
Other expected absences: Vanwall and Isotta Fraschini Milano. The two small manufacturers were in different situations, since the first hoped to return to the championship while the second had defected during the 2024 financial year, not competing in the last three races of the year.
The Porsche contingent is decreasing for 2025 with the departure of Hertz Team JOTA to Cadillac, which allows the American manufacturer to double its efforts. On the Stuttgart side, three cars will be lined up for the entire season with a single customer, that of Proton Competition, in addition to the two official ones.
In GT3, the 2024 teams are back for 2025, with the exception of D'Station Racing. The Japanese team will be replaced at Aston Martin by the French team Racing Spirit of Léman. In the absence of Lamborghini, Iron Lynx will run two Mercedes-AMG GT3s. The Iron Dames will be associated with Manthey for the operation of a Porsche.
The 2025 World Endurance Championship season will begin on February 28 with the 1812 km of Qatar. The Prologue will take place on February 21 and 22, also on the Losail route.
