On the verge of a new Formula 1 world champion title, Max Verstappen arouses a lot of respect and admiration. For others, including in the world of F1, this domination does not only make people happy.
Impressive during the last Brazilian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen could win a new Formula 1 world champion title this weekend in Las Vegas. Concretely, 86 points remain to be distributed between now and the end of this 2024 season, and the Dutch driver has… 62. Suffice to say that a fourth consecutive world crown is not very far away. Enough to bring Max Verstappen a little further into the history of F1. Paradoxically, not everyone views this outrageous domination favorably.
Pierre Gasly congratulates Max Verstappen, but…
In an interview with Sky Sports F1, Pierre Gasly, brilliant third at the wheel of his Alpine during the last Brazilian Grand Prix, first wanted to salute the major performance of Max Verstappen: “He hasn't made a single mistake these last few weekends, he took the points when he needed to, he leaves with a big lead over the last three races. Well done to him, it's not easy to beat Max. I think Lewis (Hamilton, NDLR) and Lando (Norris) can completely agree on this.” Before specifying:
“This might frustrate some people or fans, as he has driven at a very high level.”
Pierre Gasly on Max Verstappen, speaking to Sky Sports F1.
It must be said that Max Verstappen has been crushing everything in his path since 2021. More generally, over the last eleven seasons, only three drivers have been crowned world champions. These are Lewis Hamilton (six times), Nico Rosberg (once) and therefore Verstappen, very close to a fourth coronation. So, are Formula 1 fans jaded?
