Oliver Bearman is undoubtedly the driver who has revealed himself the most during this 2024 Formula 1 season. But yet, the young Briton is still not a starter in the premier category of motorsport. During this season, the young prodigy of Ferrari's junior sector distinguished himself three times: in Saudi Arabia, in Azerbaijan and in Brazil. In these three races, the Chelmsford native entered the points twice. Under the night lights of Jeddah, he performed magnificently for the Scuderia, finishing in seventh position. Suffering from appendicitis, Carlos Sainz was unable to compete in this round.
Last September, the English driver found himself behind the wheel of an F1 again, but this time with Haas. Kevin Magnussen was suspended during the meeting in Baku. At the end of this event, he crossed the finish line in tenth place. He thus became the first pilot in history to register units in two different teams. However, his performances in Formula 2 have been disappointing. Announced as a title contender, he arrived in fifteenth position in the championship, with two sprint victories, during race weekends in Austria and Italy. There are still two stages left in Qatar and Abu Dhabi to try to reverse the trend.
Confident behind the wheel of an F1
“Is it really difficult? There is quite a different driving style between the two cars, which doesn't make life easy for me to regularly switch from one car to the other. I feel a bit natural in F1. I tend to pick up speed a little quicker and I feel confident driving an F1 car. I always feel like I'm at home when I get into an F1 car, which is nice. And every time I get into an F1 car, I feel like that's the case more and more. It’s a good feeling.”
