The promising 20-year-old scrum half will leave Corrèze at the end of the season to replace Le Garrec, who is leaving for La Rochelle.
CA Brive announced this Monday that it had reached an agreement (financial, the amount of which is not specified) to release Léo Carbonneau from his last year of contract. The very promising scrum half, son of Philippe Carbonneau, international in the 90s (32 caps), will therefore join Racing 92 at the end of the season.
“The CAB, despite its desire to extend Léo in Corrèze until 2028, understood that its captain preferred to be released from his obligations at the end of 2025 in order to join Île-de-France. After discussions between the various stakeholders, a “win-win-win” agreement was reached.indicates the press release from the Corrèze club. Before adding “deeply regret the departure of one of its young talents”trained in Brive since 2013.
At only 20 years old, Léo Carbonneau has been a starter for two years with Brive (this season, he played 9 matches in eleven days, scoring three tries). He was also crowned world champion with the French U20 team in 2023 (and finalist in 2024). “The club knows that it can count on Léo to contribute to CA Brive’s rise to the Top 14 and wishes him the best for the rest of his career.”
Racing 92 wanted to enlist him to succeed Nolann Le Garrec, who was leaving at the end of the season for Stade Rochelais.
