The LFP board of directors validated this Monday the holding of the Champions Trophy on January 5 in Qatar.
It was expected, it's official. Initially scheduled for last summer in China, the Champions Trophy will finally take place on January 5, in Doha, Qatar. This is where PSG, reigning French champion, will face its runner-up from last season, Monaco, for the win of this first title of the 2024-25 season. The board of directors of the Professional Football League (LFP) validated the decision on Monday. As reported by various sources, including The Team the event should bring in three million euros for the LFP.
Coincidentally with the calendar, Monegasques and Parisians were already due to face each other on January 5, at Louis II, as part of the 16th day of Ligue 1. This meeting has been brought forward to December 18, after the 15th day and before the 32nd finals of Coupe de France and the winter break. Aside from the 2020 (Covid) and 2023 editions, the Champions Trophy has been relocated abroad since 2009. PSG, double title holder, is the record holder for the event with 12 victories.
