The 2024 MotoGP season ended yesterday in Barcelona with the coronation of Jorge Martín as world champion. The Spanish driver from Pramac won his first ever world championship title, despite the success of Francesco Bagnaia. He finished 10 points ahead of the two-time reigning world champion and was able to celebrate properly. The last race of the season was pleasant to follow, with Bagnaia winning, ahead of Marc Márquez and Jorge Martín. But on Enea Bastianini's side, the anger was great after the end of the race and it was directed against Aleix Espargaro. Bastianini, 4th in the final drivers' standings, accused Aleix Espargaró of being incorrect in protecting the interests of Jorge Martín during this Barcelona Grand Prix.

Bastianini's cold anger against Espargaro

The Italian driver pointed the finger at Espargaro at the end of the race, saying he regretted having “wasted a lot of time with Aleix“, he who finished 7th in this Barcelona Grand Prix. While he was one point ahead of Márquez in the drivers' standings, he finally finished just off the podium for this 2024 season and he was angry with Espargaro , accusing the latter of having protected Martín.I'm not happy with what Aleix did. For me it's not correct, it wasn't something clean. Without the fight with Aleix I probably could have done something more for myself, but he did all the racing for Martín. Of course, he is very good friends with Jorge, but on the track you can't do something like that“, said the Italian driver after the race in comments transcribed by Motorsport.com.

In my opinion, his behavior does not do him credit because it was his last race and he could perhaps have obtained a better result and been on the podium. Or maybe I could have fought him and Jorge. Instead, he preferred to highlight his friendship with Jorge. Why not, but he spoiled the race for other drivers. I believe that there are things that should not happen in this environment“, he then continued, visibly very angry with Espargaro… So it was hot for this last Grand Prix of the season for certain drivers.
