Formula 1 | Coulthard: Kyalami 'ready' to join calendar

South Africa continues to work towards its return to the calendar. She recently declared, via a press release from her promoter, that the Kyalami circuit was going to prepare for developments to seek classification in Grade 1, the one allowing the organization of world championship rounds.

Kyalami began hosting Formula 1 in the 1960s, and returned to it after apartheid in 1992 and 1993 before disappearing from the calendar altogether. But the circuit will therefore try to qualify to organize a race.

At the beginning of October, Red Bull came to an event there with a 2011 RB7 and its former driver and now ambassador, David Coutlhard. The Scot was able to ride on the circuit and gave very positive feedback himself.

“Driving the RB7 here at Kyalami was unforgettable” Coulthard said. “With South Africa’s energy and the world-class Kyalami circuit, it is clear that the country is ready to join the F1 calendar.”
