Before the meeting between SG and Atlético de Madrid on Wednesday evening in the Champions League, the Auteuil stand delivered a political message that will get people talking.

« Free Palestine ». The tifo deployed at 8:50 p.m. by the Auteuil stand and the Collectif Ultras Paris (CUP) attracted all eyes on Wednesday evening before the start of the match between PSG and Atlético de Madrid. Hard to miss it. This banner was accompanied by a message: “War on the ground, but peace in the world. »

In the process, the tifo was quickly withdrawn and the CUP, which has already had pro-Palestine positions, paid tribute to the victims of the floods in Spain before the players and the entire public present at the Parc des Princes began a minute of silence which ended in a minute of applause.

Anything but a message of peace

But let's come back to this controversial banner. Enter the written country message (“War on the ground, but peace in the world”) and the drawings present on the tarpaulin, the discrepancy is enormous. We can see a mosque with its minaret and the slogan “Free Palestine”, as well as a child with a flag of Lebanon at the bottom left. On the right of the tifo, which covered the entire Auteuil stand, is a man with his face hidden by a red keffiyeh. Also note that Israel is no longer present on the map.

PSG needs a real explanation

How can we imagine a message of peace between the gap between text and drawings? Why didn't the CUP put a flag of Palestine and Israel side by side in view of the many innocent victims in this Middle East war? So many questions that remain and should not arise. UEFA regulations prohibit any political messages in sports venues. The Parisian supporters made a mistake. If the leaders of PSG, whose owner is Qatar, claim that they were not aware, how can we believe them? The controversy is total. Many questions. It is up to interested parties to take responsibility and explain themselves.
