This 2024 Brazilian Grand Prix is placed under the sign of homage. Indeed, various events are planned throughout the weekend to pay tribute to the memory of Ayrton Senna, a local hero who sadly passed away 30 years ago.
The drivers were the first to do so through Sebastian Vettel. Very attached to the Brazilian world champion, the German had already been at the initiative of the tribute paid in Imola last May, with a general gathering, balaclavas in the colors of Senna and even a demonstration with one of his old cars.
At Interlagos this Thursday, the four-time world champion gathered the entire grid around a float representing Ayrton Senna's helmet, emblazoned with the words “#ForeverSenna”. The tribute took place in the S of Senna, the first two turns on the Brazilian track. Inside this giant helmet were numerous photos chronicling the career of the local legend.
Note that a demonstration with Ayrton Senna's 1990 McLaren MP4/5B is planned for this Saturday. Lewis Hamilton will be at the wheel.
