The bill is steep. The organizers of the United States Grand Prix have been ordered by the FIA ​​to pay a colossal fine. The reason? More than two hundred spectators invaded the track while single-seaters were still on the track.

After Charles Leclerc crossed the finish line in first position for the third time this season, hundreds of fans scaled a two-meter fence and went through safety barriers, reports Motorsport. However, several drivers had not completed their pit lap.

As the media specifies, “premature invasions of the track are considered a serious violation of FIA safety protocols”. Representatives had to explain themselves to the race commissioners but the body ruled: the Austin GP violated the international sporting code “by not taking reasonable measures”.

The incident led the organizers to explain themselves to the race commissioners, but the sanction was imposed: a fine of 500,000 euros, 350,000 of which is suspended until 2026, if no other offense is committed. In addition, a security plan must be submitted to the FIA ​​to prevent any future invasion of the track.
