Formula 1 | Red Bull is ‘only scratching the surface’ of what AI can do in F1

Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner sees huge potential for artificial intelligence to transform the way his team operates in Formula 1.

Horner says the development of AI and machine learning (ML) offers huge potential for F1 teams to improve many aspects of how they design their cars and manage them.

“AI and ML are a cutting-edge technology aspect of Formula 1.”

“We use AI in our simulations, in the way we prepare for a Grand Prix.”

“It’s a fascinating technology that we’re just scratching the surface of.”

“The ability to focus on key areas of car development has become particularly important for F1 teams since the introduction of the budget cap and other restrictions on the amount of development work they can carry out.”

“Data just allows us to make more informed decisions.”
