In cold weather for 5 years, Molotov and TF1 have buried the hatchet. Good news for the platform but the channels of the Front page group are not yet included in the free offer.
Since 2019, Molotov and TF1 have been waging a merciless war. But that has just come to an end as revealed by L’Informed. In fact, the two companies have decided to bury the hatchet by signing a conciliation protocol.
Molotov drops his 100 million complaint
The trials will therefore not go any further and the two groups renounce to appeal the judgment of the Paris High Court in 2022. At the time, justice had ordered Molotov to pay 8.5 million euros to the subsidiary of the Bouygues group for counterfeiting.
In fact, Molotov took over the feeds from the Front page group's channels to broadcast them on his platform without the latter's agreement. Behind this affair, TF1 demanded a large sum of money from Molotov to broadcast TF1, TMC, TFX, TF1 Séries Films and LCI in its free version.
The appeal of this case will therefore not take place and Molotov at the same time withdrew his complaint before the Paris commercial court where he claimed 100 million euros in damages for “economic violence” and “submission to obligations unbalanced”.
Following the court judgment, Molotov had to switch the channels of the TF1 group to its paid version in order to pay the surplus requested by the group for its channels. On this point, no change. The channels remain in the paid version of the application.
As a reminder, Molotov was also in disagreements with the M6 group for the same reasons.
