Top 14 | Pau overthrows Stade Français (30-16)

reacts and sinks. In this duel between two teams lacking confidence at the start of the Top 14 season, it was the Béarnais who found a smile again this Saturday evening in their Hameau stadium (30-16). An improved success (4 tries) which allows Sébastien Piqueronies’ men to seriously move up the rankings. Author of an almost perfect first period, Stade Français completely gave up after returning from the locker room and is approaching a crisis.

Two sick teams (2 defeats in 3 matches before this Saturday evening) and a shock at the bottom of the table. After losing again at home last week, the Soldats Roses arrived in Pau with the desire to defend better and to give themselves some fresh air. This is what Laurent Labit’s men did in a chaotic start to the match, weak technically and jerky by the whistles of Mr. Ramos.

Regardless, concentrated and strong in their ability to occupy the field, the Parisians took the match in the right direction by defending collectively. The arrow Péniasi Dakuwaqa came (20th) to concretize this domination with a superb try coming from a counter scored at the end of the line. Enough to lead 3-13 at the break against a weak Pau team, overwhelmed as soon as the pace picked up.

Unable to pass without dropping the ball, storing up waste (2 kicks sent directly into touch), the Section thought they had hit rock bottom. This shows with what strength of character the Béarnais returned from the break. Much better in their pomp, the Palois took advantage of Parisian indisciplinarity (a yellow card in the 64th for Pierre Huguet) to come back with a try from Emilien Gailleton (11-16, 53rd) receiving a skipped pass of its opener.

Three minutes later, Sébastien Piqueronies’ men led thanks to a daring converted try from Beka Gorgadze after a good touchline win (18-16, 56th). Diligent and serious at the start of the match, the Parisians saw their machine stall with the image of a failed launch of the game and a lost ball in the Pau camp which benefited Théo Attissogbe, author of a ride and his first try of the season (66th). Now confident of its strengths against a Parisian defense which cracked, the Section Paloise even allowed itself to score the bonus try thanks to Joe Simmonds almost on the gong (79th). Enough to depress a two-faced Stade Français and which should continue to show its face before hosting next weekend.
