Rue Fenoglio-de-Briga was once again the scene of a major national police operation on Saturday morning in Nice-Est. According to our information, personnel from the interdepartmental directorate of the national police (DIPN 06) intervened against a backdrop of the fight against drug trafficking. They received support from the Nice branch of the RAID, an armed man having been reported.
Asked, the Nice public prosecutor's office confirms that “several arrests and seizures of weapons and drugs took place”without further details at this stage. Several suspects were taken into custody at the Auvare barracks. Their hearings could last up to four days.
The eastern districts of Nice saw a succession of police operations last summer. On several occasions, shots rang out and weapons were seized.
On the night of August 29 to 30, a man was riddled with bullets in an apartment, in the same rue Fenoglio-de-Briga. This formal execution led to his death three weeks later. Six people, including the alleged shooter, were indicted for intentional homicide.
