Hutchinson, a historic French bicycle tire manufacturer and pioneer of tubeless technology, today announces its return to the highest level of professional Cycling through a multi-year partnership with Belgian WorldTour team Intermarché-Wanty.
As Official Technical Partner, Hutchinson will equip the riders of the WorldTour Intermarché-Wanty team as well as the U23 team with its most technologically advanced road tires. Designed to meet the demands of elite cycling, these tires will provide athletes with optimal performance, grip and durability to tackle the most extreme conditions. Whether it’s the unforgiving cobbles of the classics or the dizzying climbs of the Grand Tours, riders will have gear designed to maximize their performance in every racing scenario.
This partnership goes far beyond the competition days. Hutchinson and Intermarché-Wanty already collaborate closely on research and development projects, placing innovation at the heart of their alliance.
Rider feedback, directly from the most demanding racing conditions, will play a key role in optimizing and creating the next generations of Hutchinson high-performance road tires. This synergy between field expertise and technological innovation reflects the common ambition of the two partners to push the limits of cycling performance.
The technological collaboration between Hutchinson and Intermarché-Wanty has already borne its first fruits, with prototypes of new generation tires currently being tested by the team’s riders. Specially developed to meet the demands of elite cycling, these models embody Hutchinson’s expertise and historical know-how in the manufacture of high-performance tires.
These advances, including evolutions of the iconic Blackbird model, will make their first unofficial appearance during the Tour Down Under before gradually becoming accessible to cyclists around the world.
Intermarché-Wanty has established itself as one of the most dynamic and captivating teams in the peloton, accumulating remarkable victories and podiums in WorldTour events in recent seasons. Known for its attacking racing style and talented roster, including Biniam Girmay, one of the world’s best sprinters, the team sees this partnership with Hutchinson as a strategic lever to reach new heights in 2025.
Mikey van Kruiningen, Materials & Equipment Manager Intermarché-Wanty:
When we switched to tubeless tires a few years ago, as one of the first teams, we gained a significant speed advantage. Now that all teams are riding tubeless, we were looking for a way to regain the technological advantage. With Hutchinson, we have found a new partner willing to work with us on a tire offering good grip, which has until now been the Achilles heel of the tubeless system, especially in wet conditions. Building on the knowledge gained during the development of the Blackbird tire, we are now developing new Hutchinson Racing Lab tubeless tires together. These new, rather wide tires will combine exceptional lightness with optimal rolling resistance and exceptional grip – our riders don’t call them “MotoGP tires” for nothing. We started intensive testing of the prototypes early on, both in the mountains and on cobbles, with excellent results. We are very satisfied with this new partnership with Hutchinson and with all our equipment for 2025. The equipment with which the Intermarché-Wanty runners run is of absolutely impeccable quality, and we continue to work on improvements constantly, in close collaboration with all our technical partners.
This partnership builds on Hutchinson’s rich track record at the highest level of professional cycling, with numerous stage and overall victories in the Tour de France over the brand’s 170-year history.
By returning to the WorldTour alongside Intermarché-Wanty, Hutchinson strongly reaffirms its commitment to innovation and the quest for performance, continuing to develop tires that meet the highest demands of elite cycling.
