A small shirt problem for Teddy Riner. The star of the French judo delegation received this Saturday, September 14, 2024, from Emmanuel Macron, a decoration making him Commander of the National Order of Merit after his two gold medals at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

“It never happens”

But before the image forever in history, at the foot of the Arc de Triomphe on a giant podium set up for the occasion, it was necessary… to dress well. And above all to manage to button his collar. Teddy Riner, who had dropped his tie earlier in the evening for the “Parade of Champions” on the Champs-Elysées, put it back on but crooked. It was finally the President of the Republic who took charge of straightening it, by rebuttoning the last button of the judoka’s shirt.

“That never happens,” joked Romane Dicko on BFMTV after the decorations were presented. It must be said that this is not Teddy Riner’s first decoration, he the five-time Olympic champion.

Before him, other Olympic and Paralympic medallists also received decorations from Emmanuel Macron and figures of French sport, including Marie-José Pérec, Tony Estanguet, Claude Onesta and Didier Deschamps.
