Joshua Dubau still lacks rhythm and body. While he resumed competition on November 9 in Pierric (Loire-Atlantique), the 28-year-old athlete finished 3rd then 4th respectively in Troyes, during the third weekend of the Coupe de France. More than adequate results in Aube lands, of course, but he knows that it is possible to do better. “It was hard”he concedes when talking about Sunday’s race. “I was perhaps not as well physically as yesterday (Saturday). There were strong men, it was tactical and it went much faster this time”he specifies for DirectVelo.
At the physical limit, the member of the Van Rysel CX team ended up making some fatal blunders. “When I was with Loris (Rouiller) in front, I made a big mistake. On the slope at the other end of the circuit, I hooked the net at the exit and I lay down, I slipped… I lost at least ten seconds at that point. I found myself in the group behind”. He then explains that he “made a few other small mistakes in the finale”. Difficult, in these conditions, to finish on the podium (see ranking). “In the penultimate lap, it became hard for me and I suffered. I ended up worn out”.
He assures us: there are not many regrets though. “David (Menut) is good at the moment, he is confident, but I am not missing much. I hope to make progress over the next few weeks. I'm still having a little trouble finishing the weekends at the moment, but it's not so bad”. Joshua Dubau knows it, he always has room for improvement and the best is certainly ahead of him.
