UAE Team Emirates only took a few days to make the rumor official ! Aclose Rune Herregodts (Intermarché-Wanty), Florian Vermeersch (Lotto Dstny), Jhonatan Narváez (INEOS Grenadiers) et Pablo Torres (UAE Emirates Gen-Z), lThe Emirati team therefore announced a fifth and final surprise recruit this Monday with the signing for one year of Julius Johansen. Returned this season to Continental level within the Portuguese team Sabgal – Anicolor Teamthe 25-year-old Dane will return to the elite of professional cycling, probably in a team role and a year after his departure fromIntermarché-Wanty. With this last minute addition, the best team in the world completes its transfer window and validates its squad of 29 riders for the 2025 season, one less than this year.

An astonishing trajectory for Julius Johansenwent through the track school and categorized as a good rider. This old great hope of cycling has not really succeeded in confirming its promises since its title of junior world champion in 2017. Winner of l’Olympia’s Tour in 2018, during his first year among the hopefuls, he was racing at the time for ColoQuick alongside a certain… Jonas Vingegaard. In 2020, Johansen had turned professional with One-Xthen joined Intermarché-Wanty in 2022.

At the end of his contract at the end of 2023, he had not been extended and had tried to relaunch his career with Sabgal – Anicolor Cycling Teama Portuguese continental team. Johansen came to replace Antwan Tolhoekdismissed after a positive doping test. With the Portuguese team this season he won a few races at national level.
