New victory for Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado ! The Dutchwoman of training Fenix-Deceuninck won this Saturday in the 4th round of the Super prestigein Merksplas. Impressively, the former World Champion beat her compatriot Lucinda Brand (Baloise Trek Lions) and the Luxembourgeoise Marie Schreiber (Team SD Worx – Protime), to achieve its 5th success of the season (in 9 races, editor's note).
The race summary
Marie Schreiber (Team SD Worx – Protime) made a dazzling start, quickly distancing their competitors from the first lap. Zoe Backstedt (Canyon//SRAM Racing Team) led the first chase, while favorites like Lucinda Brand et Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado (Fenix-Deceuninck) remained discreet within the peloton. As the race progresses, Brand et Alvarado went on the attack, joining Schreiber in the third round.
Shortly afterwards, a group including Backstedtbut also Sara Casasola (Crelan-Corendon), Annemarie Worst (Cyclocross Reds) et Inge van der Heijden (Crelan-Corendon) has reformed. Van der Heijden then launched an attack, briefly taking the lead. However, a collision between Van der Heijden et Alvarado in the fourth round allowed Brand to escape, creating what appeared to be a decisive gap. Alvaradodetermined to respond, chased Brand and, on the fifth lap, seized the opportunity to open up a decisive gap. Despite a big effort in the finale of Brand, Alvarado held on to take the win.
