After a difficult first part of the season, David Gaudu concluded 2024 on a good note, notably finishing 6th in La Vuelta.
Unlike 2023, where he had a very good start to the season before finishing more delicately, David Gaudu struggled at the start of 2024 before having a good end to the season. “We ask ourselves questions all the time, as soon as we are on our bike. I have 87 days of racing, which is my biggest season. There were so many ups and downs, I was still able to raise my arms in this first part of the season, it really did me good. Behind, there was the Covid before the Tour. The Tour extremely complicated. It was really difficult. I put the knife between my teeth at the end of the Tour. Often, I get up, I sleep, I talk, I ride the Tour de France, but there, it was the same thing for La Vuelta. I only had one idea in mind, it was La Vuelta,” indicates the climber from Groupama-FDJ.

“I’m having a great Vuelta. Behind, I continue, I manage to raise my arms to Luxembourg. I finished correctly in Italy on the Lombardy (9ᵉ, editor’s note). I knew how to find myself at the end of the season. The team needs me 100%. I went through a lot of hard things. It's part of a career, unfortunately, you have to go through it. I think that the fact of having managed to recover from that at the end of the season allows me to take a step forward, even in my life as a man. I'm just happy in my life, happy to ride my bike, happy to go riding, happy to be able to hurt myself on the bike“, concludes the Breton.
