THE European Cyclo-cross Championships 2024 is in full swing in Pontevedra (Spain) this Sunday! After the Junior women's race and the coronation from Switzerland Anja Grossmannit was their male counterparts who competed for the European title on the Spanish circuit this morning, the Gold medal going to the Italian Mattia Agostinacchio ! The 17-year-old driver made the difference on the penultimate lap and was not seen again in the final to succeed the Frenchman on the list of winners Aubin Sparfel. After 40 minutes and 13 seconds of effort, Agostinacchio was able to savor his victory in the final straight, winning with an eight-second lead over the Austrian Valentin Hofer and ten on the Belgian Mats Vanden Eyndewho settled the group of pursuers.

The French not in the running for the podium

The Spanish Benjamin Noval did not come far from offering a new medal to the host country and only failed at the foot of the podium, the Belgian Yellow Lejeune completing the top 5 of the day. As with the girls, the French were unable to make any impact in the race, Son Ruesche being the only French representative to enter the top 10 (8th at 26 seconds) without having been able to hope for the medal. Soren Bruyère Joumard (17e), Theophile Vassal (18th) and Johan Blanc (23rd) finish further away, beyond the minute mark.
