Faustine Orveillon wants to take on a new challenge: connecting the extreme points of continental Europe by bike and solo to defend the cause of adapted sport. Departure of the adventure on January 2, 2025, from Jugon-les-Lacs, to return at Christmas.
From Portugal to Finland
OuestSudNordEst'Xtrem (OSNE'Xtrem) will be Faustine Orveillon's second solo challenge.
In 2022, it had connected the filming locations of the films Harry Potter by bike, a 2,600 km journey in Great Britain to surpass oneself and support the French Association for Lowe Syndrome, a rare disease.
Faustine Orveillon's new journey will take her on the roads of Europe for a year, aiming the four extreme points of Europe : Cabo da Roca in Portugal to the West, Tarifa in Spain to the South, North Cape in Norway and Virmaärvi in Finland to the East!
A Breton name for his bike
A loop of 19,000 kilometers leaving from Jugon-les-Lacs “with the strength of my calves and with only my bike for company, nicknamed Feulz which means wild and fierce in Breton”, she explains.
The young woman created the Footloose by Bike association (free from all ties) to raise funds to carry out adventure projects by bike but also raise awareness of certain causes such as disability, health sport or even women's rights.
Call for sponsors
Because, beyond the personal exploit, Faustine wishes to support the development of adapted sport by meeting people who practice sport with a disability, or those who run clubs and contribute to their existence.
I would like to interview people involved in adapted sports in Europe, and share their testimonies.
Today, the young woman is launching a call for sponsors to finalize your budget. Faustine offers companies, through sponsorship or patronage, to associate their image with a challenge that values sport, inclusion, sharing and discovery.
For 4500 euros
The budget of the OSNE'Xtrem project amounts to 19 000 euros. “To date, with a skills partnership and my personal contribution, I cover €13,000 in expenses. »
I still have 4,500 euros to collect, to be completely serene.
But, foresighted, she has planned different scenarios to be sure to leave if she struggles to complete her budget.
“What would I be afraid of? »
And when Faustine is asked if she is not afraid of leaving alone, she answers without hesitation. “No, what will I be afraid of? »
From Rugby to the circus
Faustine Orveillon grew up and lives in Jugon-les-Lacs. She discovered rugby in high school. After the Baccalaureate, she is studying for a degree in Adapted Physical Activity and Health at the University of Brest. She left her native region for Clermont-Ferrand where she obtained a master's degree in Adapted Physical Activity. At the same time, she led a rugby career within the Rugby Club Féminines du Pays de Brest and then ASM Romagnat. Returning to Brittany in June 2021, she completed her cycle tour of Great Britain for the ASL the following summer. On her return, Faustine was hired by the L'Olivier living center in Bruz, then turned to crossfit and the circus. Since January 2024, she has been training as a cycle sales technician in Quimper. Today she works in Rennes as a care assistant.
The solidarity attached to her heart and body, headphones plugged into the music of the Breton group Plantec, Faustine will pedal on the roads of Europe to give others hope and friendship, family values important to him.
