If a slope had not gotten in his way at Niffond last week, Vauzellian Clément Chyra would have been a hit since the start of the cyclo-cross season. He therefore won, in passing, on Sunday November 3, in Chaulgnes.
Four out of five isn't bad. Winner in Forges, Alluy, Mesves and, Sunday November 3, in Chaulgnes, Clément Chyra (CC Varennes-Vauzelles) almost made the total among the U 17s.
Except that, last week, at Niffond, on a route that he knows like the back of his hand, a slope played a bad trick on him. “He was there, I went with it. I didn't waste several seconds either. But just enough. And that was enough for Ilan (Augendre-Courtois) to win. »
Not enough to undermine Raphaël Simonin's protégé. “No, I’m not fixated on it. But it's true that it's always nice to win. And when it comes together, it’s even better,” he explains.
Training that pays
In Chaulgnes, his opponents only saw him from behind. “When you feel good, when you have confidence and nothing gets in the way, things go smoothly. Since the start of the season, I haven’t given up,” adds the 15-year-old runner. “I’m in second year cadets. Last year, in my first year, I struggled to find the rhythm in the races. I wasn't in it, that's all. This year, it's much, much better. »
I think I gained a little more experience. I manage my efforts better and it shows. The sensations are there, it changes everything.
And then, as there is no secret, the training pays off. “With Raphaël (Simonin) and Frédéric (Arnaud), it’s very square. We know where we are going. On Wednesdays, we go to train towards Crapa, in Niffond. We put ourselves in racing conditions, it's perfect. »
Cyclo-cross: Orléanais Maxime Girardin in his garden in Mesves-sur-Loire [Classements]
In Chaulgnes, he arrived long before the start of his race to fully immerse himself in the circuit. “The crossings were tough, with a lot of recovery. But it's okay, I like it. And then, I adapt. »
Clément Chyra is not a glutton when it comes to shopping. “I set myself one race per weekend. There are some who run on Saturday and Sunday. Not me. This is exceptional, I went to Mesves-sur-Loire two days ago. But it was a public holiday. »
A great admirer of Mathieu Van der Poel (“he’s my idol”), Clément Chyra savors this orgy of victories. “The fifth? It would be good next week in Châtillon-en-Bazois. We'll keep our fingers crossed. »
Florian Auroux alone in the world
Florian Auroux (Guidon Chaletois) flew over the main race.
Absent from the debates in Mesves-sur-Loire on Friday November 1 (he was entered in Moulins, where he finished second), Florian Auroux flew over the race. Having left more or less quietly, the Nivernais du Guidon Chaletois bided his time. Once launched, it was mission impossible for the competition. Especially since he added a good layer each time. He was able to enjoy his fourth victory of the season in the discipline.
“It’s the first one with my new jersey, it’s always nice. The circuit was quite rough, but it was okay. Yes, it’s true that I had the power.” Next week, the young Marzyat will be in the Coupe de France at Pierric (Loire Atlantique).
