Sunday October 13, despite the abundance of rain of the previous days, under mixed skies, 180 courageous mountain bikers took part in the Green Hell hike with two family courses of 10 and 21 km and three technical courses of 30 to 60 km. Leaving the town hall, they traveled through forests and paths, some of them very muddy, to support the association Un even regard pour tous, the aim being to raise funds for Marie, who suffers from Rett syndrome.

The very generous food buffet, entirely prepared by the volunteers, was set up in an agricultural shed at La Houghaise. The participants were able to regain their strength to return to the starting point where volunteers were waiting for them for a friendly drink, tasting of maroilles tarts and other delicacies and the possibility of buying homemade gingerbread.

Rett syndrome, a rare disease that impairs the development of the central nervous system, only affects girls. The disease manifests itself by a rapid regression of acquired skills after 6 and 24 months of normal development: severe intellectual disability, multiple complications (respiratory and cardiovascular disorders). Currently, there is no cure for Rett syndrome. Treatments aim to relieve symptoms and increase life expectancy.

The association’s twenty or so members are, above all, volunteers. They do not pay membership.
