Primoz Roglicwho has triumphed three times in 2019, 2021 and 2023, will be present to try to conquer this race a fourth time. He is determined to demonstrate his strength on a course that suits him perfectly. By his side, Enrique Mas (Movistar), victorious in 2022, hopes to return to the path of success after recently finishing on the podium of the Vuelta (3e).
The big favorites: The competition promises to be tough
Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates), second in 2022 and 2023, will start for the first time with the jersey rainbow world champion. After his impressive performance in Zurich, the three-time winner of the Tour de France is seen as the big favorite for this edition. Remco Evenepoel (Soudal – Quick Step), another contender for victory, will also be one of the riders to follow.
The field will be completed by other talents, such as Matteo Jorgenson (Team Visma Lease a Bike), Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates), Tom Pidcock (INEOS Grenadiers) et Adam Yates (UAE Team Emirates). Among the French runners, David Gaudu (Groupama-FDJ) will be the one to watch, having recently regained its best level.
The 215.3 km course, with its five climbs from the Cote de San Luca to Bologna, offers a significant challenge for runners. Although the punchers have their chance, the climbers have often been able to come out on top in decisive moments, like Enric Mas in 2022, who managed to win alone.
The favorites of the Tour d’Emilie 2024
The 2024 Tour d’Émilie promises to be a confrontation of titans. On Saturday October 5, the biggest names in world cycling will meet in Italy for this prestigious classic. Incumbent winner Primoz Roglic will be looking for a fourth consecutive victory, but he will face stiff competition. Tadej Pogacar, freshly crowned with his world champion title, will be the big favorite of this edition. The Slovenian, who has already finished in second place twice, will be keen to add his name to the winners of the event. Remco Evenepoel, for his part, will seek another victory after an already successful season. Other riders such as Enric Mas, Matteo Jorgenson, or David Gaudu could also play spoilsport. With a selective route and a dream line-up, the Tour d’Émilie 2024 promises an unforgettable spectacle.
