Cédric Paré really seems to make friends wherever he goes! Sunday afternoon, during a Toronto Marlies preseason game, he threw down the gloves with Djibril Touré of the Belleville Senators, in a 4 to 1 Toronto victory.

In the extract published by HFTV, Paré engages Touré, a two-meter (6 ft 7) player with just under 15 minutes remaining in the third period.

The players each received a five-minute fighting penalty. However, the giant defender clearly had the upper hand over Paré. Touré undoubtedly wanted to infuse a dose of energy into his team, which was then trailing 3-1. This fight will undoubtedly please many Canadiens fans.

For those who were on another planet last week, remember that Cédric Paré injured Patrick Laine for a period of 2 to 3 months (but which could have been much longer) during knee-to-knee contact in the middle of the ice skating rink. Arber Xhekaj then charged the Toronto player to force him into a fight on the next play, resulting in a game misconduct for the Canadian defender.

Several players from the Habs, who also lost the services of David Reinbacher for a period of 5 to 6 months during the same match, were targeted by very questionable shots throughout the game which looked more like a Chiefs match in Slapshot than an NHL game even in preseason.

Although Paré says he did not act voluntarily, we published a text last week which shows that the player is not at his first dangerous gestures when he has already violently hit an opponent with a stick in a NHL game.

It’s boring because it’s exactly the kind of move the NHL has wanted to prevent for years. It’s even more distressing when it’s done by a player who will never play in the regular season in the NHL and it’s the kind of gesture that will always justify the presence of a goon on your team to protect you from players like Cédric Paré.

In short, Djibril Touré, who has undergone a particular development path, has undoubtedly made some new admirers in Quebec, while several fans of the Canadian are angry with Paré for his gesture against Laine. Some overzealous fans went so far as to demand his head and make threats on social media.
