Hit in the knee, Olav Kooy (Visma | Lease a Bike) will no longer compete in races in 2024. The Dutch sprinter had been suffering from knee pain for several days. Medical examinations revealed the presence of a small stone in his knee, the Dutch team reported this Monday on X. Kooy perhaps still happy with the 2024 season, concluded with 8 successes including 7 in the WorldTour. He notably won a stage on the Tour of Italy and two on Paris-Niceall at the age of 22.

“Olav Kooij will not race until the end of the season. The 22-year-old sprinter had been suffering from knee problems for several days. Medical tests revealed the presence of a small stone in his knee. This is likely the result of a previous fall and now needs to be surgically removed. Following the procedure, he will need a short period of rest before beginning his recovery process. Given the schedule, it was decided that his season was over.” wrote the training Visma | Lease a Bike.
