Formula 1 has announced the calendar for the 2024 FIA Formula 1 World Championship, approved by the World Motor Sport Council. The calendar includes 24 races and begins in Bahrain on March 2 and ends in Abu Dhabi on December 8.
As part of a regionalization of its calendar, Formula 1 has decided to modify certain dates. Japan is thus advanced from April 5 to 7, between Australia (March 22-24) and China (April 19-21), whose Grand Prix is still present despite successive cancellations due to the Covid-19 pandemic. 19. This hasn’t happened since 2019.
Azerbaijan is shifted from September 13 to 15 while Qatar (November 29 – December 1) is inserted between Las Vegas (November 21-23) and Abu Dhabi (December 6-8). This geographic adjustment, intended to limit the environmental impact of travel, is however not optimal.
Miami (May 3-5) is thus far from the other American rounds with its presence in early May between China and Imola (May 17-19), while the Canadian Grand Prix (June 7-9) is still a anomaly in the middle of the European countryside. Note that a date conflict with the 24 Hours of Le Mans, scheduled for June 15 and 16, 2024, has been avoided for the second year in a row.
