“Surrounded by his family, he was called back to God this Tuesday at 12 p.m.”announces the family of Jean-Marie Le Pen in a press release. While the founder of the National Front died at the age of 96, in Moselle, the members of the party renamed the National Rally in 2018, regret his death.
On formerly Twitter, Laurent Jacobellideputy for the 8th constituency of Moselle and vice-president of the National Rally group in the assembly, shows his support for the family of the man who “was a precursor, a whistleblower”.
Alexandre Loubetalso a deputy in Moselle, believes that France would lose “a relentless servant (…) an outstanding tribune”on his account Olivier Bellat deplores the departure of a man “endowed with extraordinary intelligence and political courage”.

Controversial, in particular because of his repeated remarks refuting the existence of gas chambers or incitement to racial hatred (facts for which he was convicted)the far-right figure had obtained the support of Mosellans during the 2002 presidential election. In the first round, Jean-Marie Le Pen thus obtained 23.67% of the votes, ahead of Jacques Chirac (18,99%) et Lionel Jospin (14.49%). During the second round, on May 5, 2002, the leader of the National Front obtained 114,584 votes in Moselle, against 408,858 for his opponent Jacques Chirac (78.21%).
